Der Bootcamp Day
Am 27.01.2022 luden wir Gründerinnen und Gründer ein, sich beim International Bootcamp Day im Rahmen der Born Global Academy einen Überblick über die einzelnen Schritte der internationalen Expansion zu verschaffen.
Neben inspirierenden Impulstalks von Movers & Shakers der österreichischen Tech-Szene, gab es am Vormittag knackige Info-Sessions zu den Themenfeldern Evaluation of Readiness, Establishing a Strategy, VC Funding und vieles mehr. Am Nachmittag blickten wir gemeinsam auf die regionalen Besonderheiten der Startup Ökosysteme Europas, Asien und den USA.
Im letzten, inhaltlichen Teil unseres ersten Bootcamp Days ging es um die neuesten Trends in Sachen Hypergrowth Marketing. In den Alumni Success Stories kamen ehemalige Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer der zahlreichen Scaleup-Programme der AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA zu Wort und berichteten über ihre Erfahrungen.

Meet our speakers
Annalisa Andaloro is the Innovation Manager for Alperia Group. She is currently managing the company accelerator, Alperia Start-up Factory. She is also a senior researcher in buildings energy efficiency, with a track record on developing novel business models and supporting technology transfer. Trained as a building engineer, with a double degree in innovation from the Alta Scuola Politecnica, and a PhD from Politecnico di Milano, she has extensive experience in applied research, collaborative funded research at international level and funding opportunities for SMEs, corporates and start-ups.
Cristina Angelillo is the CEO & co-founder of Marshmallow Games and, since December 2021, president of InnovUp, the association of the Italian innovation and startup ecosystem. After graduating in TLC engineering, she worked in the radio and TV broadcasting business. In 2014 she decided to follow her passion for kids and teaching and founded Marshmallow Games, a digital startup that creates educational apps used by millions of kids worldwide. Marshmallow Games is mainly focused on the development of smart tales, a collection of interactive stories and games that teaches STEM subjects to children aged 3 and up.
Sergiu Ardelean is a serial entrepreneur from Austria who built a successful Augmented Reality agency in Vienna which served clients such as Volkswagen and Audi in 42 countries. Now Sergiu is working on a StartUp that envisions the combination of haptic and digital art through augmented reality. Artivive has now offices in Europe, US and China and is used by 130.000 artists in 120 countries. The projects with world-famous museums and galleries in Vienna, Munich, San-Francisco, Seoul and Shanghai show that the art scene is ready for the new dimensions augmented art can bring.
Giulia Imperatrice is a Partner and the Chief Operating Officer at WEVE Acceleration, a soft-landing accelerator for international startups expanding to the US. Giulia is the main referent for the company’s government and international collaborations as well as WEVE’s startup programs. She is in charge of building new revenue lines and supporting business development and she overviews the different Programs execution. She actively engages with a community of over 300+ mentors in New York and manages WEVE’s investor and corporate networks. To date, Giulia supported over 200 companies in their business development and fundraising efforts. Giulia also co-founded a non-profit organization with the aim of raising social awareness among youth in Italy.
Wolfgang Langeder is Senior Expansion consultant with weGrow International. He has advised 50+ companies on their international growth and expansion strategies. Wolfgang is heading the weGrow academy, leveraging tools developed as a consultant into applications in an educational setting. The format that enables founders from Europe & the US on growing their business into new markets, finding capital and talent, and connecting them to VCs and local industry professionals. He lectures on international expansion at multiple universities, including JKU Linz (Vienna) and the Global School for Entrepreneurship (Amsterdam). Wolfgang led teams in scaleups for the DACH and NORDIC markets. A native Austrian, he lives and works in Amsterdam.
Madeline Lawrence is head of DACH for Peak, an early-stage venture capital fund based in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Stockholm. Peak is 100% funded by founders from tech unicorns like Booking.com to more traditional industries. Prior to Peak, Madeline co-founded ASIF Ventures, a first-check VC fund backed by angel investors and universities, and worked in operations at Rockstart, a global accelerator and venture fund.
Nina Mueller is the Global Program Director of Butchershop® Global, a growth and transformation company with offices in the US, Europe, and Mexico. Nina and Butchershop have turned an unwavering emphasis on clarity into the Beat Failure™ methodology, helping leaders steer through the challenges of inflection points ᠆ whether they be at a moment of growth, scale, evolution, transformation, or launch. Thereby, Nina has worked with some of the world’s most successful brands, ranging from early and late stage startups to Fortune 500 companies.
Patrick Ratheiser is CEO and co-founder of Leftshift One and a keynote speaker in the field of AI. Leftshift One has developed Europe's first operating system for artificial intelligence that respects data protection. The fast-growing company currently employs around 40 people at two locations, at its headquarters in Graz and in Munich. The US magazine Forbes recently named Leftshift One one of the 30 most promising young companies in the DACH region in the field of artificial intelligence. The international investment club eQventure and ARM founder Hermann Hauser are among the investors.
Julia Rhee is the founder, CEO of Music Traveler. The company was co-founded with Aleksey Igudesman and with renowned ambassadors Billy Joel, Hans Zimmer, John Malkovich, Sean Lennon. Prior to Music Traveler, Ms Rhee was the founder and managing partner at Alpha Institutes. Ms Rhee founded and was executive producer, host of Chief Investment Officer Summit® and served as a director at Santé Ventures for over a decade since 2010. Before joining Sante, Ms Rhee served as the Head of Business Development at Dominion Fund Management and Fortis Bank. Ms Rhee currently is an advisor to Typhon Capital Management.
Gernot Schwendtner is co-founder of weGrow, an Amsterdam-based internationalization service focused on start- and scale-ups growing in Europe and the USA. weGrow is helping companies such as WeTransfer, UnitedWardrobe or HelloPrint to enter markets in both a strategic and hands-on way. Gernot is a true growth expert specialized in growth strategies, international growth, scaling into new markets, marketing and leadership.
Gernot’s experience lies in the field of business development, scaling and marketing. He was VP Marketing and International Country Manager of TravelBird, Managing Director of Newsreisen and built up a venture-builder for an Austrian media company.
Andreas Spechtler has more than 28 years of international experience in the global technology and licensing business, digital entertainment, international marketing, sales and operations with focus on Intellectual Property (IP). He served as an executive in global technology companies such as Sony, Nemetschek, Real Networks and Dolby. Until 2016 Andreas was the President of Dolby Laboratories International. At the end of 2016, Andreas founded SILICON CASTLES, a Tech Company Builder and Strategic Business Accelerator for technology intellectual property businesses based in Salzburg. He is now fully dedicated to helping startups to grow based on strong IP and startup executives to become world-class performers.
Alexander Steiner is a Project Manager in the aws i2 Business Angels Program, an independent matching service for startups and investors in Austria. aws i2 Business Angels is the largest independent nationwide matching service, operating since 1997. The Network contains over 420 Investors, such as Business Angels, Venture Capital funds, Corporate Venture Capital funds, and family offices. Alexander and his colleague screen about 700 Startup projects annually, of which around 60 startups meet the program criteria. They are subsequently presented to the participating investors in standardized "Investment Summaries" or video pitches. 2021 the service has established over 16 Investments.
Lisa Stöger in her function as Program Manager of the Global Incubator Network Austria (GIN) has successfully connected the Austrian startup ecosystem with the world's most innovative startup hubs for the last 4 years. With a focus on Asian markets, she supports Austrian startups in their internationalization and market entry and introduces them to relevant, international stakeholders. Since 2016, GIN, co-managed by AWS and FFG, has been the contact point for startups regarding expansion from Austria to Asia and vice versa. Over 300 startups have already benefited from the customized GIN services and internationalization programs.
Susan White is a record-breaking Business Development Executive with over 20 years’ experience engaging top-tier financial institutions globally. For the past 2 years she has been leading the expansion of Austrian-based kompany in the Americas as the Managing Director of their U.S. subsidiary. Prior to joining kompany, Susan built and led a startup team at Bloomberg LP. She is a certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and obtained a Fin-Tech certification from Harvard University as well as a BS degree in Finance from St. John’s University. Susan also worked as a flight attendant for a brief time, lived in the Caribbean for a year and back packed around the world for 14 months.
Valerie Wolff is the co-founder at VELLO BIKE, an Austrian-based company specialized in the development and distribution of innovative mobility products. With its flagship product, the first self-charging folding e-bike, VELLO is redefining mobility in cities and pioneering ground-breaking technologies with bicycles and related accessories. As a trained economist, she has been working for various international organisations, such as ICMPD, UNDP and the UN Kosovo Team on private sector development and public-private partnerships before embarking on her own business journey in the cycling sector, turning her hobby into a successful start-up with its products being sold in over a hundred specialised retail shops across 15 countries.
